Tangle Index Time Session 1 Wrap Up

Hi and welcome back to the Chrissie Murphy Designs Blog. Well June marks the beginning of a series of Live Events I am holding on Facebook and Instagram. The first event kicked off on Facebook last night, Tangle Index Time Session 1, and it went well…. generally speaking. I thought I’d share some more about it on the blog tonight for those who missed last night. So let’s get into it.

What is Tangle Index Time?

On social media I’ve shared pics and posts about working on my Tangle Index quite regularly. When I do, I always receive lots of comments and messages about it. The main theme of the messages is “I would love to make a tangle index but I struggle to find the time”.

This (in a nutshell) is what the Tangle Index Time Live Events are all about. If you’ve been wanting to work on a Tangle Index and have been struggling to find the time to do so, then these events are for you!

The Tangle Index Time Live Events happen each week (but alternate between social media platforms). They are a place where we can meet and work on our Tangle Indexes together. I’ll be continuing to add to mine, and thought we could all work together to build our own.

Do I need special supplies?

All you will need is your regular tangling supplies and whatever you would like to use for your Tangle Index. I use an A4 three-ring binder with 2in x 2in square coin collector sheets because these fit Zentangle Bijou tiles perfectly.

But you can use whatever you like. A notebook, index cards and a box, a display folder…. They will all work.

Using a Notebook as an Index

In last night’s Tangle Index Time Live Event I shared a quick flip through of a notebook I used to use for my old Tangle Index.

I have found with Tangle Indexes, the most important thing you need is time to dedicate to working on it. That’s what these hours are about.

Is there a Tangle Index Time Live Event Schedule?

Yes, there surely is.

Here is the Live Event Schedule for June. These are FREE live events.

  • 13 JUNE 2022 at 7pm – No event, Chrissie on holidays
  • 20 JUNE 2022 at 7pm – Facebook Live
  • 27 JUNE 2022 at 7pm – Instagram Live

Note that the time zone is Australian Eastern Standard Time (AEST).

The Timezone doesn’t work for me. Is there a recording I can watch later?

Not at this stage. I’m really bummed about this. I was really hoping to be able to screen record last night, but I couldn’t find an option to do so anywhere in Messenger Rooms.

Then I was hoping Facebook might just save the event to my timeline afterwards, but that didn’t happen either.

I’d really like to have the option to screen record, so I may look at an alternative platform for July’s get togethers. I will keep you updated on this.

How was Tangle Index Time Session 1?

For me, it was a little nerve racking! In my regular day job I work as a Business Analyst for Local Government, so I spend nearly all day in an online meeting environment with Microsoft Teams or Zoom.

But this was different! I hadn’t used the Rooms platform before with Facebook/Messenger and I was worried I wouldn’t be able to work the tech properly for us all.

We had a small group for Tangle Index Time Session 1 and generally speaking, the tech worked okay. There’s definitely room for me to approve here though and I will be focusing on it over the next two weeks.

We worked on 7 tiles for our indexes.

And here’s a group pic of everyone holding up their progress toward building a Tangle Index. Well done to all involved! This makes me so happy!!

Here’s a couple of pics from those who attended last nights session. The first two are from Olivia Navarro. I loved seeing Olivia’s patterns all laid out together.

Olivia has also started putting her Tangle Index together. I just love this!! It’s so good to see.

And this next one is from Meredith Guy-Villon. I love that Meredith is using a notebook to build hers. She is off to a great start and I can’t wait to see this first page filled.

I’d also like to thank the two people who left me 5 Star Host Ratings after last nights event as well. I’m so honoured by this and very very humbled. Thank you so much.

Our next Live Event will be on Facebook at 7pm on 20 June. I will have a wrap up blog post that’s published afterwards if you’re unable to attend.

Just like this one, it will contain the patterns, strings and enhancers we focused on in the session so you can follow along at your own pace.
