Hi, I’m Chrissie — a mixed media artist based on the beautiful Cassowary Coast in Far North Queensland.
I work mostly with pen, watercolour, and layered details inspired by Zentangle® and pattern-based design.
I’m also a Certified Zentangle® Teacher (CZT39) and hold a Diploma of Visual Arts specialising in painting… which sounds very official, but most days still involve a lot of “let’s just see what happens if I try this.”
How I Work
Most pieces begin without a big plan—just a starting point like a line, a shape, a grid or a pattern.
From there, the work builds slowly, layer by layer, usually in small pockets of time across days and sometimes even weeks.
Along the way, there’s often a quiet moment of “why did I start this?” followed by “oh yeah Chrissie! That’s why.”
A Bit of a Shift
My work has changed over time.
Over time, things became much simpler. I focused on learning, developing skills and sharing that process with others.
Now, I create for the sake of creating.
What Matters Now
These days, what I’m really interested in is what a piece can give you.
A moment of beauty.
A small smile.
Something that makes you pause for just a second before heading back into your day.
This Space
This space reflects that intention.
You won’t find tutorials or instructions here. Instead, it’s simply a place to pause, to look, and to take a small break from everything else.
No pressure. No need to figure anything out.
You can just… be here for a minute. You can wander through my gallery or spend some time on the blog if you’d like to see more.
