About

I work mostly with pen, watercolour, and layered details inspired by Zentangleยฎ and pattern-based design.

Iโ€™m also a Certified Zentangle Teacher (CZT) and hold a Diploma of Visual Arts specialising in paintingโ€ฆ which sounds very official, but most days still involve a lot of โ€œletโ€™s just see what happens if I try this.โ€

Most pieces begin without a big plan โ€” just a starting point like a line, a shape, a grid or a pattern.

From there, the work builds slowly, layer by layer, usually in small pockets of time across days and sometimes even weeks.

(But more often than not, with a quiet moment of โ€œwhy did I start this?โ€ followed by โ€œoh yeah Chrissie! Thatโ€™s why.โ€)

My work has changed over time.

For a while, I focused on learning, developing skills, and sharing that process with others. But recently, things have become much simpler.

Now, I create for the sake of creating.

What Iโ€™m really interested is what a piece can give you.

A moment of beauty. A bit of delight.
Something that makes you pause and think, โ€œthatโ€™s nice,โ€ before heading on with your day.

This space reflects that intention.

You wonโ€™t find tutorials or instructions here. Instead, itโ€™s simply a place to pause, to look, and to take a small break from everything else.

No pressure. No need to figure anything out.
You can justโ€ฆ be here for a minute. If you’d like to see more, you can wander through my gallery or spend some time on the blog.

If you leave feeling even slightly lighter, happier, or just a little more settled than when you arrivedโ€ฆ

then thatโ€™s exactly what I hoped for.
