A quiet place to pause, tangle and enjoy art

Sometimes you don’t need more noise.
Instead, you just need a moment… something calm, something thoughtful, something quietly beautiful.

That’s what this space is here for.

As a Zentangle-inspired artist, I create artwork and creative resources that invite people to slow down, tangle, and notice the beauty around them.

I’m Chrissie — a Zentangle-inspired mixed media artist based in Australia, creating work that invites people to slow down and look a little closer.

My work is inspired by Zentangle® and is often detailed, sometimes unexpected, and occasionally takes far longer than I planned (no regrets though 😄).

However, at its heart, it’s about creating something that invites you to slow down and notice the beauty in front of you, even just for a minute

There’s a lot happening in the world.

And while art won’t fix everything, it can offer something small but meaningful — a pause, a shift in perspective and a moment of quiet.

A reminder that there is still beauty to notice. Still goodness to hold onto. It’s why I tangle every day.

Just a small selection… you’re welcome to wander through my gallery further if something catches your eye.

Each piece begins in a slightly different place — sometimes with structure, sometimes with curiosity, sometimes a string — but always with a willingness to see where it leads.

You might notice tangle patterns, layers, or quiet details that take a moment to reveal themselves.

You’re very welcome to explore the full gallery here.

One fragment. One week. Endless possibilities.

The Magnified Fragments Project began as a simple idea: what would happen if we took the Zentangle® fragments from the Collection of Reticula and Fragments and explored them in depth, one at a time?

The project grew from my own curiosity as a Zentangle-inspired artist and a desire to explore the creative possibilities hidden within simple fragments. Over two parts of the project, tanglers from around the world magnified square and triangle fragments, experimented with enhancement techniques, and discovered just how many different ways a single starting point can be interpreted.

What emerged was something far greater than a study of fragments. It became a celebration of creativity, individuality, and community. Although everyone began with the same fragment, no two tiles were ever alike.

Today, the project remains freely available for anyone who would like to explore it at their own pace. Whether you’re new to fragments or simply looking for fresh inspiration, you’re invited to tangle along.

Building a Tangle Index has been one of the most valuable practices in my journey as a Zentangle-inspired artist. Have you ever wished you had a personal reference library of tangles to inspire your own creative practice?

The Tangle Index Time sessions were created for people who wanted to build a Tangle Index but struggled to find the time to work on it. Each week we gathered together, set aside an hour, and added a small collection of new patterns, strings and enhancers to our indexes.

Across 22 sessions, we explored:

• 110 tangle patterns
• 22 strings
• 22 enhancer ideas

One step at a time, participants built a valuable creative resource that continues to support their tangling today.

Although the live sessions have now finished, the wrap-up posts remain available on my blog, making it easy to work through building your own index, at your own pace, from home.

Whether you’re starting a brand-new Tangle Index or adding to an existing one, you’re welcome to follow along.
