Hi and welcome back to another week on the Chrissie Murphy Designs Blog. Today we’re going to continue with Part 2 of the blog post series on How to Develop a Conqueror’s Mindset as an Artist.
Last week, in Part 1 you worked on trying to identify what God’s plan for your life could include. We looked at His promises and I asked you to try to find three verses (or promises) that really meant something to you. Then you worked on breaking them down into a short paragraph that you could speak over yourself daily.

We’re going to get into this week’s content soon, but I just wanted to let you know how important it is to continue to speak His promises over yourself. Keep going girlfriend! Don’t stop just because the week’s up, keep going. His promises are powerful and life changing. If anything, try and work towards speaking even more of His promises over yourself daily. His promises will help you gain a Conqueror’s Mindset, and that’s what all of this is about
With that being said, let’s get into Week 2
Hopes, Aspirations and the Desires of your Heart
This week you’re going to work on identifying some of the desires you have on your heart. You’re going to unearth your aspirations and some of the hopes you have for yourself as an artist. Just like last week, there’s also a free worksheet to accompany this week’s post. Click the blue hyperlink to get yourself a copy. This worksheet will give you a place to record your answers and provide you with something you can easily reference in the future.

Ok, this next part is going to require some deep reflection, so let’s pull up for a minute so you can remove any distractions you might have around you. Close all the tabs you have open on your computer, put your phone on silent and go and get yourself a cuppa. I’ll meet you back here in 5 minutes…
Question Time…
I’m hoping you’re feeling comfy and settled now, so grab your free worksheet and a pen and let’s get cracking. Take your time working through each of these questions, make sure you’re also noting down the very first thing that pops into your head (because sometimes it’s soooo right!). If you run out of room on your worksheet just continue on a separate piece of paper.
- As an artist has there been a style or technique you’ve always wanted to try, but you keep thinking it’s too hard or you’ll be no good at it?
- If you had no time constraints and money was no concern what would you be doing as an artist?
- If you knew you were going to pass away a year from now, what would you want to be remembered for artistically? How do you want people to think of you?
- What were you passionate about as a child and you always hoped you’d achieve? Now when you think about it, you think it’s silly or it would be a waste of time pursuing it.
- Still thinking from a child’s perspective, what is true about you today that would make your 8 year old self cry?
- If you could create a law that solved an issue you see in the art and craft world today, what would it be?
- For one day only you’re given the gift of invincibility, you‘ve just defeated the biggest problem you’ve ever faced as an artist. Give the battle you’ve just won a name.

You should be starting to see some common themes arise.
Questions 1 to 4 are designed to help you find your Hopes and Aspirations as an artist.
These are the things you desire to do, but you generally face some form of resistance when you think about doing them. There’s always a reason why you can’t do them at the time, this is what’s known as “resistance”.
Questions 5 to 7 are about your finding the Deep Desires of your Heart.
These are the things that you feel passionate about. They are the things that you have an opinion on and things you have answers for. These are the things that motivate you to keep going, because you know you can help someone else with what you know. These are part of the core values you have, that motivate you as an artist.
Your Homework Over the Next Two Weeks
Over the next two weeks, try to come back to these questions regularly and continue to note down anything you think of. Let me put it out there… You can’t develop a Conqueror’s Mindset if there’s nothing you’re prepared to fight for. Next week we will pause this blog post series for another Artist Interview, but we will be picking it up again, with Part 3 on Thursday 19 July.
Soooooo…… there is heeeeaps of time for you to really reflect on your hopes, aspirations and desires. Let me encourage you during these two weeks with this….
