Part 1: How to Develop a Conqueror’s Mindset as an Artist

Hi everyone welcome back to another week on the Christine Murphy designs blog. Tonight’s blog post is part of a series of blog posts I’ll be doing about How to Develop a Conqueror’s Mindset as an Artist. On Tuesday night as I went to bed I had this thought about regrets. I wasn’t regretting things, but I was thinking about what life would really be like if it was lived with no regrets.

Part 1: How to Develop a Conqueror's Mindset as an Artist
This is Part 1 of a Blog Post Series I’ve created on How to Develop a Conqueror’s Mindset as an Artist

I thought about who we are created to be and the plan that the Lord has for us in our lives. There is a verse in Jeremiah 29:11 that says, “For I know the plans I have for you,” says the LORD. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.”  I believe that the Lord does want to prosper us and to give us a future that is full of hope. But how much do we get in the way of that happening? How much does fear stop us from walking in His plan?

It Begins with Having the Heart and Mind of a Conqueror

Every time we make a decision to not go ahead with something because it’s too hard, or we don’t have enough time or it will hurt, are we preventing a bigger purpose from unfolding?  I want us to have the heart and mind of a conqueror, to be Artist’s who can see an obstacle or something in the way, and know it can be overcome.  It’s about living our artistic journey full on, with no regrets as we move closer to achieving our higher purpose.

Quote about having the heart of a conqueror by Chrissie Murphy Designs

So just like Earl, I’m going to start making a list of everything I believe the Lord has planned for me and I want for you to do the same. I know His ways are higher than ours and His thoughts are not like our thoughts, but with the human abilities we’ve been given, we’re going to have a red hot go at understanding His plan for our lives. Then we’re going to begin conquering the things that are in the way of us achieving those plans.

So…. do you want to come with me for this ride? Are there things you know you want to achieve, things that have been on your heart for a while, maybe because they’re the right thing to do or maybe they’re just a dream you have? Those desires are there for a reason! It’s time to conquer the things standing in the way of them unfolding.  It’s time to develop a Conqueror’s Mindset!

I have included a free worksheet with today’s post, click the blue hyperlink to go and get yourself a copy.

Let’s begin with Week 1

Whenever you’re trying to determine the Lord’s plan for your life, you need to begin with His promises. His promises are a HUGE part of His plan for your life. Did you know there are over 3000 promises from God in the Bible?  These promises reveal his eternal purposes, but…. they are promises that are conditional upon our obedience.

I’m going to point you towards some resources that might help.

Below is a pic of the John 3:16 Bible Promises app on iTunes. It lists God’s promises by topic, so you can search for one with a specific purpose in mind.  Click on through to check them both out and begin searching.

On your free worksheet I’ve created some space for you to make a note of any promise that seems to speak to you more strongly than others. Perhaps a word or two stands out, or perhaps one seems to jump off the page compared to the others. Whatever way it happens, note it down. Try to find three promises that really mean something to you. These are the three I’ve noted for myself.

In his grace, God has given us different gifts for doing certain things well.

Romans 12:6

For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.

Philippians 4:13 NLT

For God’s gifts and His call are irrevocable. (He never withdraws them when once they are given, and He does not change His mind about those to whom He gives His grace or to whom He sends His call.

Romans 11:29 (Amplified Bible)

So breaking down these three verses as promises, this is what I’ve noted God’s plan for my life as an Artist could say;

The Lord has given me different gifts that I can use throughout my life to do certain things well. He will never revoke the gifts and calling I believe I have, and throughout my life I can go on to do ALL things through Christ, who gives me strength.

As an artist, wow!  What promises!  What a plan! This sort of thinking is what will begin to change your mindset. This is the beginning of developing a Conqueror’s Mindset, it’s Conqueror thinking, it’s believing you can overcome anything!

So, over this next week, this is what you’ll be working on:

  • Take some time to discover the promises God has for you and write them down on your free worksheet
  • Break them down further and record what God’s plan for you as an Artist is.
  • And then here’s the clincher…. Speak them over yourself daily!

Hopes, Aspirations and the Desires of Your Heart come next

By next week, your mindset will be starting to change and you’ll be ready to tackle the next step. We will begin looking at your aspirations and your hopes for the future as an artist. Psalm 37:4 says, “Take delight in the LORD, and he will give you your heart’s desires.”  My friend, delight in the promises and plans the Lord has for you and He will give you your heart’s desires. What a promise that is!!  Next week, we’ll see what some of those desires might be.  And believe it or not, you’re already one step closer to having a Conqueror’s Mindset!  Go you!!
