Hi and welcome back to the Chrissie Murphy Designs Blog. This week’s Magnified Fragment is A16. So without further ado, let’s get into it, have a look at the enhancer we’ll be using. I’ve also included links to some resources you might find helpful for this week.
This Week’s Magnified Fragment is A16
Here’s a quick sketch of what the fragment looks like as a reference for you.
This week’s Magnified Fragment Enhancer is Pen Stitching
This week’s enhancer idea was suggested to us by Josefina Rey. Josefina has suggested a few enhancer ideas to us over the last year and they have all been awesome. This one is just as great.
From what I’ve been able to learn as I researched it, Maria Tovar, CZT lead a class at a Zentangle conference called Conzentric. It was at this conference that Maria introduced this technique she calls Pen Stitching.
“Pen Stitching is creating embroidered textures on paper tiles.”
I have included some links to pics shared on Instagram by those who attended the class to give you an idea of what the technique looks like.
Some resources to help you with this week’s Magnified Fragment
One of the examples I loved is Ilonka Weerts, CZT take on the class below. Zoom in and see how the petals of Ilonka’s flowers appear embroidered (but it’s done with a pen).
Here’s another example from the class by Angelika Geschi Durand, CZT. Have a close look at PokeLeaf and the Mooka in this pic to see the pen stitching technique. Notice the stitched marks bordering the tile as well.
And one last example. This tile was completed by Isabel Theodet, CZT. Again, I’d recommend zooming in to have a look at the pen stitching technique Maria has deconstructed.
Hopefully this gives you a good idea of what we’re focusing on this week. A big thank you to Josefina for suggesting this great enhancer idea
If you have any ideas for an enhancer in Part 2 of the Project, leave me a comment and we’ll feature them in upcoming fragments.
Now is the perfect time to join us, the more the merrier. Just tag your tile with #MagnifiedFragments and I’ll see it, share it and add it to our gallery.
