Hi and welcome back to the Chrissie Murphy Designs Blog. This week’s Magnified Fragment is A13. So without further ado, let’s get into it, have a look at the enhancer we’ll be using. I’ve also included links to some resources you might find helpful for this week.
This Week’s Magnified Fragment is A13
Here’s a quick sketch of what the fragment looks like as a reference for you.
This week’s Magnified Fragment Enhancer is to use Line Variation
This weeks enhancer idea was suggested to us by Clea Davis. Clea suggested we play with line weight and/or variation this week, and since we’ve explored Weighting previously, I thought we’d narrow down her idea to line variation.
I’m really looking forward to playing with Clea’s enhancer idea as I think the results could be really interesting. Thanks so much Clea for sharing your idea with us.
Some resources to help you with this week’s Magnified Fragment
I thought I’d begin by referring you to the basics on elemental strokes with Zentangle (aka I, S, C and O). Eni Oken has a great tutorial on these elemental strokes if you’d like to deepen your understanding. Just click the link above to visit.
Once you have a good grounding in these elemental strokes you can begin playing around with them to vary them. Some ideas to try with different tangle patterns are:
- Where a curved C line is used, use a dashed C line
- Where an I line is used, use a wobbly line instead
- Where an O line is used, fill it or use straight lines instead
- Don’t use curves at all, use straight lines
- Don’t use straight lines at all, use curves
- Don’t use lines, use dots and dashes
I think you get the idea. Wherever you use lines this week, try to vary them as much as you can.
If you have any ideas for an enhancer in Part 2 of the Project, leave me a comment and we’ll feature them in upcoming fragments.
Now is the perfect time to join us, the more the merrier. Just tag your tile with #MagnifiedFragments and I’ll see it, share it and add it to our gallery.
