A Tangle Index Update

Hi and welcome back to another week on the Chrissie Murphy Designs Blog. In 2019 I shared about creating a Tangle Index. If you missed the original post, you can read it here. After 3 years, and some bijou progress, I thought it was about time I gave a Tangle Index update. Today’s post is going to fill you in on where this project is at.

Grid tangles

The Expressive Daily tangle and journal prompts are what did it…

I hadn’t made too much progress on my tangle index since 2019. If you’re signed up as an Expressive (you can sign up below if not), you’d know I send out monthly tangle and journal prompts. These have been the kick along I really needed where my tangle index is concerned.

Ribbon tangles

I have been creating a bijou tile for each tangle prompt I use throughout the month. This has really helped to give my index some shape.

Let’s have a deeper look at how it’s progressing.

My updated Tangle Index

First up, my Tangle Index has changed

First things first…. My tangle index has changed. In 2019 I was in love with yellow and my index reflected that. The cover image also had the year on it.

But I’ve changed and after years of hardly any progress with the index, I was kicking myself for putting the year on it.

My new updated Tangle Index cover reflects where I’m at now and there’s no mention of the year…. I feel less pressure this way with it being something I can work on forever.

Leaf Tangles

Displaying the tiles

I’ve kept the categories I first setup; Leaf Tangles, Blossom Tangles, Fillers and Grid. Since then, I’ve added Ribbon Tangles, Enhancer Techniques and Strings.

Blossom tangles

When I get some time I plan to add all the enhancers we’ve used in the Magnified Fragments Project to the Index, as well as a section for Fragments.

Enhancers

There’s lots I still want to do. I have just bought some more inserts for my index so I can keep growing it.

New sheets for my Tangle Index

Where to from here with my Tangle Index?

I want to start to develop a process for USING it. I’ve noticed that I create the bijou samplers, I pop them into the index, and when it comes time to create a tile, I don’t even give them a second glance!

Over these next few months I want to change that. I really want to develop a process where I use my Tangle Index first! I want it to become my place for inspiration and ideas.

I’d love to hear how you are using yours? Leave me a comment and fill me in.
