Hi and welcome back to the Chrissie Murphy Designs Blog. This week’s Magnified Fragment is C16. So without further ado, let’s get into it, have a look at the enhancer we’ll be using. I’ve also included links to some resources you might find helpful for this week.

This Week’s Magnified Fragment is C15
Here’s a quick sketch of what the fragment looks like as a reference for you.
This week’s Magnified Fragment Enhancer is to use a Monochromatic Colour Scheme
Ok, this weeks enhancer sounds complicated, but it’s really not, it’s actually quite simple.
A monochromatic colour scheme is where you choose a colour (let’s say red) and you create a piece using different shades of red only. Basically you explore the colour spectrum of red in your piece.
If you look at my work in progress pic, I’ve chosen to do my monochromatic tile in browns. I’ll be using different shades of browns to fill my fragment (where it’s required) and I’ll use brown inks for my tangling. It will be a monochromatic tile!

Some inspiration to help you with this week’s Magnified Fragment
I’ve included some great examples of monochromatic art below for you to give you some inspiration for how to approach this weeks fragment.
This monochromatic piece by Helen Dardik explores Blue Violet. You can see lots of different shades of it – light, dark and mid tones in this piece.
Marilyn Parigian has created a beautiful monochromatic blue piece below. I love that Marilyn played with different ways of filling colour too.
Claudette Hasenjager of The Creative Flourish has created this gorgeous Yellow Green chromatic piece. It’s stunning!
Hopefully this gives you some great monochromatic inspiration. I can’t wait to see your Monochromatic Magnified Fragments this week!
Don’t forget
If you have any ideas for an enhancer in Part 2 of the Project, leave me a comment and we’ll feature them in upcoming fragments.
Now is the perfect time to join us, the more the merrier. Just tag your tile with #MagnifiedFragments and I’ll see it, share it and add it to our gallery.
