Hi and welcome back to the Chrissie Murphy Designs Blog. On Monday night we headed back to Instagram for Tangle Index Time Session 5. This was our last session for July. As promised, here’s the wrap up post that contains all the links of the patterns we focused on. Let’s get into it.
What is Tangle Index Time?
On social media I’ve shared pics and posts about working on my Tangle Index quite regularly. When I do, I always receive lots of comments and messages about it. The main theme of the messages is “I would love to own a tangle index but I struggle to find the time”.
This (in a nutshell) is what the Tangle Index Time Live Events are all about. If you’ve been wanting to work on a Tangle Index and have been struggling to find the time to do so, then these events are for you!
Happening each week (but alternating between social media platforms), these one hour live events are a place where we can meet and work on our Tangle Indexes together. I’ll be continuing to add to mine, and thought we could all work together to build our own.
Do I need special supplies?
All you will need is your regular tangling supplies and whatever you would like to use for your Tangle Index. I use an A4 three-ring binder with 2in x 2in square coin collector sheets because these fit Zentangle Bijou tiles perfectly.
But you can use whatever you like. A notebook, index cards and a box, a display folder…. They will all work.
I have found with Tangle Indexes, the most important thing you need is time to dedicate to working on it. That’s what these hours are about.
Is there a Tangle Index Time Live Event Schedule?
Yes, there surely is.
Above is the Live Event Schedule for August. These are FREE live events.
Note that the time zone is Australian Eastern Standard Time (AEST).
Is there a Facebook Group for Tangle Index Time?
Yes, there most certainly is. The Home for Expressive’s Facebook Group will keep you up to date with;
- The Tangle Index Time live event schedule
- Tangle Index Time Wrap Up posts
- Progress pics from other Expressive’s who are participating in Tangle
You can join by clicking the link here to my Home for Expressive’s Facebook Group.
The Timezone doesn’t work for me. Is there a recording I can watch later?
Yes and no….
Instagram offers a recording of the Live Session. But Monday night’s video was blocked again by Instagram and is currently under dispute.
If I can’t develop consistency with screen recording on Instagram, I will need to seriously consider whether it’s worth the risk of my account being flagged or shadow banned to pursue it. At this stage, I’m thinking it’s not.
I’ll wait to see how I go with the dispute before making any further decisions. I’ll keep you posted. For now though, the wrap up post is your best friend.
Facebook Rooms doesn’t have recording capability at all. But you can catch up on anything you’ve missed through the wrap up blog posts like this one.
What we focused on for Tangle Index Time Session 5?
On Monday night there were just over 80 of us on Instagram Live again at one point and it was awesome.
The tangles we focused on were awesome too. They were full of dimension and perspective, with lots of different ways they could be shaded.
I had a great time tangling with you all and particularly loved hearing that Yvonne Rein, CZT’s 6 year old Grandaughter, Jessica, was tangling along with us. I just love Jessica’s tangles. Above is a photo showing her beautiful work. Jessica’s tiles are on the bottom row. Isn’t her tangling fantastic!!
We worked on 7 tiles for our indexes again. Here’s the breakdown of what we covered.
- 1 x Focal pattern – Siros by Simone Menzel, CZT
- 1 x Leaf Pattern – Pais by Mikee Huber
- 1 x Grid Pattern – Fe-Ba by Lisa Chang, CZT
- 1 x Ribbon Pattern – Lapwing by Lucy Farran, CZT
- 1 x Filler – Fasset by Lynn Mead
- 1 x Enhancer Technique – Steampunk
- 1 x String – String 6 by Sandy Hunter, CZT
Here’s some of the progress pics from those who came along on Monday night. Well done to all involved! Fantastic tangling!!
