Hi and welcome back to the Chrissie Murphy Designs Blog. Today I am going to share my 08 Days of Zentangling from Project Pack 17 and my thoughts on this great little pack. Let’s get into it!

Project Pack 17 was inspired by the Kaleidoscope
This Project Pack was inspired by the Kaleidoscope, a toy that has tiny pieces of glass or plastic in it that are specifically arranged. The small pieces of colored glass or plastic reflect against mirrors, and create beautiful patterns as the Kaleidoscope is rotated and turned.
Zentangle HQ see this as a metaphor for life. They put it like this;
“All these components of our lives are strung together to form ever-changing patterns, ultimately forming a work of art we call life.”
Zentangle HQ
I believe this project has the potential to be quite breathtaking.

Lots of video…
All of the Project Pack 17 videos are available to watch on YouTube here if you’d like to give it a go. Begin here.
Zentangle HQ released a video to accompany each activity. I worked along with the videos, pausing them as I caught up to whomever was teaching. I did one 3Z tile by video and then went on my merry way to do the other 5.
My 8 Days of Zentangle
Day 1
In Day 1 we focused on adding tangling to the corners of a 3Z tile. We used an embellished Tipple, some Hollibaugh and a strong striped pattern to decorate our tiles for day 01.

Day 2
In Day 2 we looked at the next set of 3Z tiles and worked on adding a Knights Bridge Tangleation. We also added a long Aura’d pattern and some Well that we embellished.

Day 3
For Day 3 of we finished adding corners to the last set of 3Z tiles. This time we worked with Flux, Garlic Cloves and another very beautiful pattern I’m unable to remember the name of.

Day 4
In Day 4 of we started filling the centres of our 3Z tiles. We went back to the first set we worked on and filled the centre with some Betweed gathered around a Mooka-like stem. It was majestic to see the first Kaleidoscope piece complete.

Day 5
For Day 5 of we filled the second set of 3Z’s. This time we worked with Hollis and we had it twirl it’s way around itself to fill each tile.

Day 6
In Day 6 of we filled the last lot of 3Z tiles. Maria guides us through using Gourdgeou as a filler and I love how this set turned out. It was my favourite of the three.

Day 7 and Day8
In Day 7 and Day 08 of we worked on blank 3Z tiles to create a set of triangular shaped patterns that were similar, but different. I decided to colour mine in different shades of brown and use the same pattern, but vary it as much as I could. I love the results

To the big question…. Where to next?
On 19 April, AusTangles is kicking off. This will be the 5th year for AusTangles and it’s the first time I’ve joined in.
Each day a pattern is released by an Aussie Tangle Artist that we can work with. I’ve decided to take the same approach as Inktober 2021 and work on one big piece, adding an AusTangle each day. I’m really looking forward to sharing this next project with you all.
