Creating is what happens ist the home for the expressive
Often the very act of expressing is all that’s needed to trigger an understanding of who you are so the journey to freedom can begin

What is an Expressive?

I’m not a person who carries a lot of regrets, but one thing I do regret is not discovering who I was created to be much earlier in life. I spent decades trying to fit into boxes and moulds that other people had for me. In doing so, I wound up unfulfilled, empty and with no real zest for life.

I gave up the idea of conforming to anyone else’s ideals and started to follow what spoke to ME. Now I’m focused on helping others to live in the freedom the Lord provides.

I can help you to understand yourself through creative expression and lead you to a place of freedom. I call it being an Expressive.

What is a “Home for the Expressive”?

A Home for the Expressive is a place where Expressive’s can gather to rest, refresh and refuel.

Finding your way to this place of freedom is a journey – it’s a long journey! You will need somewhere to be able to hang out on the way.

You’re going to need encouragement for when the journey gets tough. You’re going to need ideas to help you express yourself along the way. But most importantly, you’re going to need a place where you can share freely, because this journey will touch many parts of you.

What do we do at the Home for the Expressive?

We Journal

One of our main focuses as at the Home for the Expressive will be to journal. If you sign up to the Expressive’s List, you will receive a months worth of journal prompts. These prompts have been designed to enable you to reflect on who you are and on what makes you, you. They have been designed to draw the expression out of you. All you need to do is trust the process…… and journal.

An Expressive Life is one that is journalled
Journalling is vital for an Expressive Life

We will be using the hashtag #ExpressiveDaily to share about our process and to connect with other Expressive’s. It’s always encouraging to know there’s others with you on a journey like this.

The first list of prompts is for May, so you still have time to join. There’s an opportunity to join the Expressive’s List at the bottom of today’s post. It’s the ONLY way to get the prompts and best of all it’s free.

We make

At the Home for the Expressive you will be provided with ideas for things to make as a way to express yourself. I will be making all sorts of things and you will see how each of these things have been used to express a deeper meaning. You will understand the process that an artist uses to express themselves through creation. And lastly, you will be encouraged to try it for yourself.

We do Expressive Challenges

I believe that the very act of expressing is all that’s needed to trigger an understanding of who you are. And I believe a creative challenge is one of the best ways to do this.

I’m not going to dive too deep into this here as I have more detail coming in a future post. Just know that the Home for the Expressive has Expressive Challenges!

We regularly encourage

The Home for the Expressive is a place full of resources that can help you on this Expressive journey. In particular we focus on books, podcasts and websites, but we don’t limit ourselves to just these three areas. I recommend following my blog so you never miss a post with this kind of resource. You can sign up to follow it on my Homepage (just scroll to the bottom).

Some journeys you take in life need to be taken alone. But the journey to freedom through a life of creative expression must be lived with others. You need others to help and guide you. You need others to encourage you, others to correct you and others to support you.
