Hasn't it been great to see all the tiles tanglers

Hasn't it been great to see all the tiles tanglers over the world have created to celebrate the International Day of Zentangle® 🤩

Living in Far North Queensland 🐊🦋🐸 meant the live event began at midnight, and despite my best efforts, sleep won out and my pillow called! 😴 Thankfully I was able to enjoy the recording the following morning over a decaf and crumpet ☕️

I've shared a little more about the day, what made this year's celebration so special, and why "one stroke at a time" has become about so much more than drawing for me 🙏

👭 This week the Aussie and New Zealand tanglers in the Zentangle Down Under Facebook group are working on #MagnifiedFragments A1 using Rounding as an enhancer.

I thought it would be fun to look back at the tile I created for this week of the project all those years ago. 🤗

I really love what Rounding does to a tile. It softens everything so beautifully and seems to bring the whole design together. These days I struggle to leave it out of a tile... I think I'm a little bit addicted to it.
A bit like Milo really. 😉☕️

It's super satisfying when you return to an unfini

It's super satisfying when you return to an unfinished piece and finally give it the attention it deserves 🫂

Over the weekend I joined the monthly @yintangles Meetup hosted by my wonderful friend @yvorein, where we explored a pattern by Easy Art from Facebook.

As part of my mission to work through some of my unfinished projects, I decided it was time to revisit this journal page. It had been sitting with only the border completed for quite some time. Now, with some beautiful tangling added, it finally feels done diddly done 😀

It's always fun to learn alongside other tanglers and spend a few hours chatting away.

Today is the International Day of Zentangle 🎉and i

Today is the International Day of Zentangle 🎉and it's the perfect opportunity to pause and look back through some of the Zentangle-inspired artwork I've created over the last year.

I first discovered the Zentangle Method® in 2013, during a time when I was navigating some health challenges 🤔 I had no idea then that a simple pen and a few deliberate strokes would become such an important part of my life. From that very first tangle, I was completely hooked 😍

In 2022, I became a Certified Zentangle Teacher, something I never imagined when I first picked up a pen all those years ago 👩‍🎨 And later this year, I'll be taking another exciting step by hosting my very first in-person workshops at Flying Fish Point, where I'll have the privilege of introducing others to this wonderful art form 👭.

One of Zentangle's philsophy's is that we can all draw.... we do it by taking it "one stroke at a time" 👣 This simple philosophy has gone on to hold a much deeper meaning for me.

Over the last few years, I have found things to be quite overwhelming at times, with workloads, responsibilities, and unexpected challenges all arriving at once. I've been reminded that the way through times like these, is the same as creating a tangle — it's one stroke, one step, one moment at a time 💫

Creating Zentangle-inspired art has become such a significant part of who I am. It has been a constant source of beauty in my days 💕 it has connected me with wonderful friends around the world 😀 and it continually reminds me to slow down and just enjoy the process.

So today, on this International Day of Zentangle, I'm simply grateful — for the art, the philosophy, the community, and the joy that tangling continues to bring into my life.

🤗 As you know I'm slowly working my way through completing my old Zentangle® Pre-Strung Journal, and today's page was all about borders.

💢 As I was filling the page with different border ideas, it got me thinking about how often they're overlooked 🤔 We tend to think of them as simply marking the edge of a space, but they can do so much more.

A beautiful border can ground a design, draw your eye towards the tangles beside it, or even become a feature in its own right 💫 It's amazing how something so simple can have such a big impact.

I think that's one of the things I love most about Zentangle-inspired art. Even the smallest elements offer endless opportunities 💕

🔍 The Magnified Fragments Project has recently bee

🔍 The Magnified Fragments Project has recently been revisited by the Zentangle Down Under Facebook group hosted by @heidi_froelich, and it seemed like the perfect excuse for me to look back through the original project again. 💕

I decided to revisit the very first Magnified Fragments tile I created back in July 2021. This one features Fragment A1 with Echolines as an enhancer... and I can't quite believe it's already five years old! 😲

One of the unexpected joys of looking back has been rediscovering techniques I'd completely forgotten about. 🤦‍♀️ Echolines add such beautiful form and depth to a tile, and seeing this piece again reminded me just how much I enjoyed using them.

Sometimes it's nice to revisit older work. Not only does it remind me how far I've come, but it also brings old ideas back into the present. I have a feeling Echolines are about to feature a little more often in my tiles. 😉

😌 One of the things I have really been loving lately is trying out new tangle patterns 🙌

@yumiko_green recently shared a step out for a new pattern she deconstructed called Kizuna 💙 I loved the weaved effect of Yumiko's pattern and I wanted to create a tile where it was the central element 🎯

I really love how this tile turned out. Thanks Yumiko for an awesome pattern 😍

Quite a few years ago, I started tangling in this Zentangle pre-strung journal… but I never actually finished filling it 😔

Lately, I’ve been on a bit of a mission to finish some of my old sketchbooks and journals 🏵 So I thought it might be fun to share a few pages here as I complete them.

This page is all about Fragments that can be used to create grid patterns. It’s such a handy reference, and I love having it nearby whenever I’m tangling 🤓

It features tiles created by tanglers from all around the world who participated in the Magnified Fragments Project I hosted a few years ago. There is so much beautiful inspiration in that gallery 🙌

I don't know about you, but I can find tangling in grids to be quite complex at times 🫣

Last Sunday I joined our @Yintangles Seminar Group on Facebook 👭 for our monthly catchup. @Heidi_Froelich lead the class for June, encouraging us to use the tangle pattern "8's Part DOS" by @Jane_Eileen as a grid ✒️

For me, this was a pattern that required a lot of focus - I think it's why it's taken me so long to finish my tile 😁 I also created a metapattern pic from my finished tile, so you can see how amazing this pattern is on the larger scale 😲

Thanks Heidi and @Yvorein at Yintangles for another great afternoon and another great creative challenge 🌺💕

This tile was a lovely exercise in stepping outside my comfort zone and i have two amazing people to thank for it 😊

This month’s palette from @kath.artique #ColourMyWorld2026 challenge isn’t one I would normally choose. I’m usually drawn to stronger contrast, so this combination challenged me to think differently about how contrast could be created.

Rather than relying on colour alone, I introduced contrast through linework and pattern choice, which made the process especially interesting.

💢 The main tangle is Trenzanet, originally deconstructed by Patricia Aragon CZT. It was one of the patterns we explored in Friday night’s Detangle with @Heidi_Froelich class. Heidi challenged us to use it as a grid and fill the reticula-like spaces it makes with other patterns. It ended up creating a surprisingly complex tile 🧩

I really love where this exploration led — a little reminder that creative growth often happens when we work with something outside our usual preferences 🙌

Having a couple of awesome friends to challenge you helps too 👭💕
