Inktober Day 23 — Hilgabo by Annette Plaga-Lodde CZT 🎨

Today's prompt is Hilgabo by Annette Plaga-Lodde CZT, and this was another one that made me stop and think about how to make it work on a luggage tag!

I went with bold blues and warm orange tones, and added some curved lines for a weave across the design. Lately it seems like every day is bringing a new little challenge 😬 it's something I wasn't really expecting for this Inktober 🤷‍♀️

🤎 Each tag is still only $15 AUD + postage. Browse the collection in my Inktober 2026 Pop-up Shop — head to the website link in my bio ⏫️

Today's prompt is Snapa by Karin Frank, and I really like the bulbous, almost seed-pod shapes that emerged with this tangle! 🌱 I loved working with warm oranges and yellows, and couldn't resist applying some little flashes of green, here and there for a bit of extra zing ⚡️

Twenty-two days down now, only nine more to go!

Today's prompt is Umarmung by Annett Rümpler CZT, and this one had me scratching my head a little! 😅

I wasn't quite sure how to make the pattern work for the luggage tag, so I went with lime greens, turquoise and little pops of purple to create some interest and contrast.

I reckon that's all part of the fun of working with a different prompt every day though — some patterns make you think 😉

Inktober Day 20 — Hearty Wyfore by Zentangle Inc. 🎨

Day 20 already! Today's prompt is Hearty Wyfore by Zentangle Inc. I went with rusty reds and warm ochres for this one, and there's a bit of a mechanical vibe going on with the repeating shapes and connecting lines.

Twenty tags down, eleven to go! It's been fun seeing how each tangle takes on a slightly different character 😊

Inktober Day 18 — MuehleNZ by Ildica Boyd CZT 🎨

Today's prompt is MuehleNZ, and I may have let the pattern get a little out of hand! 😂 The heart shapes are there, but some of their ends have disappeared into the edges. I kinda feel like they wanted to be in New Zealand and were already boarding the plane instead of living on the luggage tag 🛩

I do love how the pinks, greens and blues pop against the warm, golden background, though 💖💚💙

Eighteen days down, and this collection just keeps on growing.

💛 What a lovely thing for Innisfail!

As Art for Art Sake comes to a close today, I’ve been thinking about just how special this exhibition has been.

It’s been wonderful to see so much creativity from across the Cassowary Coast, meet local artists and be part of something that brought us all together.

I do get a little sad that Innisfail doesn’t have a dedicated gallery or exhibition space, so having this opportunity to share our work in such an unexpected setting has been a real treat. I’m so grateful to have been invited to be involved.

A huge thank you to Bernard KC for bringing the exhibition together, and to Dixie for all the work she did to make it happen at Vinnies. ❤️

And thank you to everyone who came along, supported local artists and took a little piece of our creativity home.

Here’s hoping we get more opportunities like this! ✨

Today's tangle is Ahh by Zentangle Inc.

With some strong symmetry, 💎 a bright blue gem and lots of tiny details, this one kept me guessing! I went with a blue and tan colour palette (my all time favourite 🤎💙), adding a little warmth around the edges to bring it all together.

Isnt the name Ahh interesting.... as i worked on this little luggage tag I felt both relaxed and exasperated! How totally apt of you Ahh 😂

Sixteen days down, and the Inktober collection keeps growing. 💛

🍂 No, it can't go on forever 😢

The Art for Art Sake exhibition closes this Saturday, so there are just two days left to pop into Vinnies in Innisfail and explore the wonderful work of our Cassowary Coast creatives.

🔖My little collection of vintage-inspired tiles and tags was created as a nod to yesteryear — old journals, treasured keepsakes and the sorts of little things you might discover tucked between the pages of a much-loved book. 🤎

If you haven't had a look yet, tomorrow or Saturday is your last chance!

And just like that we're halfway through Inktober! 🎉

Today's pattern is Dazen by Maria Victoria Taeno Cuevas CZT, and I've had fun filling this little tag with my interpretation of it 🤗

I love how the reds, greens and golden yellows work together, with all those little patterns weaving around one another ❤️💚💛

🪾 Today's prompt is Yoho by Yuru Chen, and it took me in a different kind of direction 🫴

I love how this tangle has a more figurative feel, almost like a little creature emerging from the page. The bright blues, warm browns and golden tones are faves of mine to play with, and I loved seeing this one come to life on a luggage tag.

Fourteen days down, and every tag has its own personality hey. I wonder what the next half of the month will bring! 😁

I’ve gone with warm, earthy colours for this one, with pops of bright green adding a little contrast. Or maybe they're just peas....🫛 😉

Anyway, its always interesting to see how a tangle pattern translates for these little black luggage tags and how each one develops its own personality.

Thirteen days down, and the collection is really starting to grow now! I'm really looking forward to what tomorrow's prompt will bring. 😃

😁 A little late.... but anyway.....

I had a wonderful time teaching Escher Inspired Tangling with the @Yintangles Seminar Group during their September monthly online meetup! 😃

We explored tangling inspired by MC Escher. We focused on rotational symmetry and tessellations, starting with a little Bijou tile and turning our designs into something quite special.

I absolutely loved seeing everyone's finished tiles. We all started with the same process, but the results were wonderfully different! 🤎

This was my first online class since completing my Diploma, and I felt much more confident in myself and my ability to teach. With more teaching opportunities on my wish list for 2027, this was a lovely boost!

I've shared more about the class and everyone's beautiful creations over on the blog. Come and have a read! 🌿 See the Linktree in my bio ⏫️

A little look at my Inktober 2026 collection so far! ✍️🖤

One tag. One day. One little piece of original art.

I'm now 12 days into Inktober Tangles, where I'm turning ordinary black silicone luggage tags into little artworks inspired by each day's tangle prompt.

It's been so much fun seeing how different each one turns out. And the best part? They're available to own! ❤️

Each tag is $15 AUD + postage, and I'll be sending them all off in the first week of November.

If one of these little beauties catches your eye, you can see the collection and claim your favourite in my Inktober 2026 Pop-Up Shop.

Day 11 of Inktober 2026 ✍️
Today's prompt is Algae by @kathrin_burmeister CZT.

I've been a fan of Kathrin's work for such a long time, so it was a real pleasure to spend some time with a pattern deconstructed by her, seeing where it would go. ❤️

I love how the little details and those red, flowing shapes came together in this one. A slightly different colour palette for me, but I'm rather happy with how it turned out!

This little original is $15 AUD + postage and is available to claim from my Inktober 2026 Pop-Up Shop. See the Linktree link in my bio!

Day 10 of Inktober 2026 ✍️

Today's prompt is Floatfest by Carole Ohl CZT, but I couldn't resist bringing in a little Molygon by Zentangle Inc. too! 😄

Sometimes two tangles just seem to belong together, and I thought these two would make a lovely pairing. ❤️

Ten days down, and I'm really enjoying seeing how each new prompt takes me in a different direction.

Riverfest is on today! 🎉 With @eskimojoemusic great food, good company and fireworks over the Johnstone River, Innisfail is definitely the place to be! 😃

If you're heading into town, why not pop into Vinnies and have a wander through the Art for Art Sake exhibition? There are so many wonderful pieces by local artists, and it's such a lovely way to discover and support the creative talent we have here on the Cassowary Coast.

You'll find my little display just inside the front doors, on the right. I've created a collection of vintage-inspired tiles and tags, bringing back some nostalgia for yesteryear with plenty of details to discover. 💛

And if you happen to take home a little piece of my art, I'd love to see where it ends up — tag me in a photo!

✨ The exhibition runs until 17 October at Vinnies, Innisfail.

Enjoy Riverfest, everyone! ❤️
