Hi, and welcome back to the Chrissie Murphy Designs Blog. Saturday, 19 July 2025, marked a huge milestone in my creative journey. It was the official opening night of The Final Chapter Online Exhibition, an exhibition showcasing the work I created during my Diploma of Visual Arts. What started as a way to mark the end of my studies turned into something far more meaningful. It’s become a celebration of growth, connection, and a readying as I step into life as a professional artist.
An Incredible Response
I’m thrilled to share that The Final Chapter exhibition was viewed 216 times on opening night alone. Seeing those numbers roll in was surreal, but even more moving were the thoughtful and generous comments people left. The kindness, insight, and encouragement in those messages truly blew me away. Over the years, I’ve quietly hoped that my work was resonating with others. And reading the feedback confirmed just how deeply people have connected with my art. There are no words to describe what this means. It truly is a gift from God.
Surrounded by Support for The Final Chapter
One of the best parts of the evening was having my family there beside me. Traditionally speaking, the Murphy’s aren’t big fussers, but it meant so much to me to have them with me for this event. In their own quiet ways, they have been a constant support throughout my years of study. They have listened to me process new ideas when they’ve had no real comprehension about what I was talking about. They’ve seen me cry from sheer frustration and they’ve encouraged me when Imposter Syndrome was at it’s worst. Being able to share this moment with them was the perfect way to close the chapter.
The Soundtrack to the Evening
Another special element was The Final Chapter playlist—a handpicked collection of songs that set the tone for the night. It played in the background as my family and I celebrated and it was such a beautiful way to reflect the mood of the work. Music has always been part of my process, so it felt only right to include it as part of the event. This has fast become one of my favourite Spotify Playlists and you can have a listen here if you are interested.
Looking Ahead
As I step into this next chapter as a working artist, The Final Chapter feels like a fitting transition point. It’s a celebration of what I’ve learned, but also a launching pad for what’s to come. My focus now is not only continuing to develop my own art practice, but also supporting other artists—especially those just starting out or returning to their creativity after a break away.
I’m doing this through my email newsletter where I will be sharing regular art tips, creative prompts (these are new, and my first one is coming in July’s newsletter), reflections, and insights. These are all grounded in lived experience and designed to gently support your creative growth.
