The Half Way Mark for Inktober 2021

Hi and welcome back to the Chrissie Murphy Designs Blog. Well, I’ve just hit the half way mark for Inktober 2021, so I thought I’d blog about the process so far. It’s been all consuming in some ways, so I couldn’t not mark the journey with a half way post. Let’s get into it!

Day 15 of Inktober 2021

What does the Half Way Mark for Inktober 2021 look like?

Three weeks ago I blogged about my plans and hopes for Inktober. You can read about them here. Above is a pic of where I am at Day 15, aka the half way mark for Inktober 2021.

I am so in love with it, and have some serious plans for this piece when it’s complete. A lot has happened in three weeks!

What has the journey been like so far?

I never expected to love the process as much as what I am. This is my first time working on one piece for Inktober, and I am loving not knowing what it’s going to look like.

The piece has a life of its own. It is literally growing and evolving before my very eyes. It’s such a joy to see it blossom and flourish every day. Each day is something new and I love seeing how I can incorporate the next tangle into the design.

Days 1-9 of Inktober 2021

Reaching the half way mark for Inktober 2021, how do I feel?

If I am honest, I’m feeling confident. In years past, if I’ve made it this far, there’s a high probability I will finish.

At half way, a sense of the bigger picture is forming. It either grabs you completely, or it doesn’t. If it grabs you, it’s as motivating as! You start to get a sense of what you’ll accomplish and if you’re like me, you’re motivated to finish it.

Momentum is a big thing with creating. If momentum is behind you, it will motivate you to keep going. By the half way mark of Inktober 2021, you should have momentum behind you. It will give you the confidence you need to keep going.

Days 10-15 of Inktober 2021

Pain points moving forward

Like any good project, it’s also about now that you start to get a sense of what your pain points are going to be going forward. At the half way mark for Inktober 2021 I’m starting to realise that I don’t have enough room to continue to work in the scale I have been.

Going forward I intend to get very strategic about the size, scale and positioning of my tangles. If I can go small, I will. I’m hoping that this strategy will see me fit all 31 days on the one piece.
