Hi and welcome back to another week on the Chrissie Murphy Designs Blog. It’s Plan With Me time again! Now before we get too far into things, I wanna say that I know I missed April. My family and I were full on into moving in April, I just couldn’t get to it, so this Month’s Plan with Me will touch on April, but focus on May. So go and grab your planner, your favourite pen and come and Plan With Me for May 2019.
Plan With Me for May 2019
So, as usual we need to plot out what’s on in May. This month we have another long weekend for May Day on May 6. I also have a stash of birthdays in May, but never plot these out visually, you might choose to though. So take the time now to mark out important dates for you and your family.
Personally speaking, I also have my regular appointment with the Gastroenterologist coming up on 8 May. Those that have followed me for a while would be aware I suffer from Ulcerative Colitis, an inflammatory bowel disease. Ulcerative Colitis is often associated with Chrohns Disease because both are inflammatory bowel diseases. Chrohns affects the entire digestive system, while Ulcerative Colitis affects the lower intestines.
I have been very fortunate to be living flare free for a while now, but my regular appointments with the gastroenterologist continue. And it’s why I couldn’t resist the poo emoji to mark the day. Fellow IBD sufferers will appreciate the humour.
If you have any other dates that will impact the way you manage your time, you need to pencil them in to your planner at this stage.
My theme for May
After such a huge April, I really wanted to go light, with nothing too serious for May. It’s been an intense few weeks and I really wanted a theme that spoke to the opposite of that. I wanted to be able to look at my planner and feel joy, to giggle, and have it be carefree for a month. So Emoji’s seemed perfect! Tell me what you think…
My Vision for May
Ok, so I’m gonna be really open with you here. Because of the intensity of the last month, I found myself attending “pity parties” quite often. For me, pity parties pop up when I feel like I need a break, or it feels like everything is against me, and amidst all of it, I feel alone. It feels, and seems, very real at the time, but I know that none of its is actually true.
This month I wanted to remind myself of that. There’s still a tonne of work my family and I have to do. We have our old house that needs to be painted, we want to start to establish gardens at our new place, and begin entertaining guests. So the conditions are still ripe for a pity party to pop up.
I think King Solomon knew about pity parties, because in Proverbs 15:13 he writes, “A cheerful heart brings a smile to your face; a sad heart makes it hard to get through the day.” Ultimately pity parties happen because we’re self focused, we’re absorbed inwardly and they end up producing a sad heart. The way to overcome any pity party is to quit looking inwardly and start looking outward. I know that and I’ve found that 1 Thessalonians 5:18 gives the best advice for how, “And in the midst of everything be always giving thanks, for this is God’s perfect plan for you in Christ Jesus.”
Give thanks, aka be grateful. Look outwardly to the Creator instead, and thank Him for his provision. So in response to my pity parties, I’m telling myself to “suck it up buttercup and deal with it!”. I will choose to give thanks to the Lord for His provision in my life. This prompt reminds me to to stop looking inwardly at myself and begin to look outwardly at the Lord instead, and deal with the spiritual issue of self pity. With Jesus, I will overcome.
My Monthly Overview
The Monthly Overview is really just a quick snapshot of my plan for the month ahead. I’ve broken it up into a To Do List, Goals, Tracking and Important Dates.
On my To Do List (Big Plans) is an item called Tangle Variations, it was on there two months ago and I never got to it. You have probably seen some pics of my Tangle Recipe and Guide Book. Well, this month I want to try and work even more on it. My intention is to begin studying patterns more intently and explore how many variations (aka tangleations) I can come up with. I will store them in my guide book for future reference.
Also on my list is Art Club. Eni Oken keeps pumping out the lessons and I’m getting further and further behind. I’m not too worried about being behind, because Eni Oken’s Art Club is self paced, but I don’t want to get too out of touch with those out front. I’d like to try and catch up on a few lessons this month.
New Spreads I’ve added this Month
As you know I love the idea of long term lists and record keeping…. A long term list is something you create once, and you add to it time and time and time again.
In keeping with this, I really wanted to start capturing podcasts I’ve been listening to. I love podcasts and I’m a sucker for true crime podcasts. Over the years, I’ve shared why I love true crime (no, I’m not morbid!). It’s all about the hope I have for redemption, because I believe everyone is redeemable through Jesus. It’s this exact thing that fuels my desire to work as a prison Chaplain in the future.
I also love leaning in to the Lord through a great spirit building podcast as well. So this month I decided to get this spread underway. I’ll keep adding to them throughout the year.
So that’s it for my Plan With Me for May 2019
I’d love to see pictures of the spreads you put together for this month. Tag your work with #CMDPlanWithMe and I’ll be sure to share your spreads with our community.
But before we go… here’s a quick look at April
I did plan for April, I just never had the chance to blog about it. Here’s some pictures of last month’s spread for those who are interested.
