20 Ways to Connect with the Creator through the Beauty of Art & Craft

Hi and welcome back to another week on the Chrissie Murphy Designs blog.  So I’ve been around for a while now and you know what I’m all about.  I’m all about connecting creative’s to the Creator through the beauty of art and craft… BUT…. I’ve only recently realised that I’ve never actually put together a post to share about the free e-book I developed on this very thing.  Doh!  Earlier this year I created an e-book called “20 Ways to Connect with the Creator through the Beauty of Art and Craft“.  It’s a 9 page e-book that’s full of ways you can connect with the Creator as you craft and yep, like all the good things in life, it’s free!

20 Ways to Connect with the Creator through the Beauty of Art and CraftToday’s post is all about my free e-book called “20 Ways to Connect with the Creator through the Beauty of Art and Craft”

Where the connection with Artist’s and Crafter’s began…

In the Bible, in the book of Exodus, at the start of chapter 31 and again at the end of chapter 35, you can read the story of two men who were filled with the Spirit of the Lord. Furthermore, these men happen to be the first people recorded in the Bible as being filled with the Spirit.  And guess what? They also happened to be artists and craftsmen!

First the Lord called Bezalel.  He filled him with the Spirit of God, giving him great wisdom, ability, and expertise in all kinds of crafts. The bible says that Bezalel was a master craftsman.   He was an expert in working with gold, silver, and bronze.  And he was a skilled engraver, jeweller and wood carver. It even says he was a master at every craft.  We have some people today who are very skilled at many crafts, yet Bezalel was skilled at EVERY craft!  Let that sink in.

Then the Lord called Oholiab.  He gave both Bezalel and Oholiab the ability to teach their skills to others. These two men were given the task of leading others to construct the Lord’s tabernacle, including all of its furnishings.  It was these two men who created the Ark of the Covenant.  Have a search on google and check out some of the artist interpretations on the Ark of the Covenant, you’ll be blown away.

The Creator cares so much about art, craft and design

The important thing to remember here is that the Lord chose these men.  Even more than that, He equipped them with everything, including His Holy Spirit.  The Lord cares so much about art, craft and design that the first people He ever filled with His Spirit were Artists and Craftsman.  Now don’t you just feel special!

If He cares so much about art, craft and design, why wouldn’t you want to connect with Him?  If He can inspire creation and provide insight on how to construct something, why wouldn’t you want to connect with Him?

But Chrissie, how do I start to connect with the Creator?

Humans are the hands and feet of the Lord in this world.  His work is done through us, and He loves creating!  Creating was the very first thing He ever did, “in the beginning, the Lord CREATED…”.

And His creation is perfect!  I know you’ve admired beautiful landscapes, or the awesomeness of an elephant or even the elegance of a rose.  As a result, these things have a way of moving you deeply, at your soul level.  Know that as you adore His creation, His heart is to create, and He wants to do it through you.

So, the biggest obstacle with this kind of thing is often not knowing where to start. If you don’t know where to start, that’s ok. My e-book will give you 20 ways that are simple and practical to get you started. Connecting with the Creator as you create isn’t a complex thing that’s full of rules and theology.  No, it’s something that’s very natural, a like connecting with your friend over a coffee.

Friend, my heart is to close the gap between our Creator and the act of creating by helping you uncover the true beauty of art and craft. When that connection happens, and your creation becomes something that’s spiritually fulfilling, uplifting and an outpouring of worship, I will have completed what I’ve been called to do. Everything I do, create and post is designed to close that gap, and to get you to that place of connection.

It doesn’t matter how many you apply.  If there’s only one way that you end up connecting with the Creator, that’s ok. I trust that when you do connect with Him, He will take care of the rest.
